Art Gallery Images (Manchester)

Image of 'The Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr, taken by photographer Jill Furmanovsky. The image was displayed in Manchester library within the 'There Is A Light Which Never Goes Out' Exhibition.
The exhibit displayed photographs of Manchester's most successful bands, quote the exhibit 'A photographic celebration of Manchester's rock-music history'. It featured images of groups such as The Smiths, Oasis, Joy Division and The Stone Roses.

The photo, taken from low angle, almost empowers Marr over the viewer, presenting him as this towering icon for all to look up to.
In my opinion, the composition is perfect. It presents the guitar in the foreground, with Marr over it; in control.
Multiple images of members of Oasis, taken by Jill Furmanovsky. The colours appealed to me, with sharp contrasts in clothing. It defines an era of both music and fashion.
The following images are displayed in Manchester Art Gallery.
